hey, i was just wondering what people would think of an alternate history/fantasy board.
The idea would be something apocalyptic (hell opening, meteors who knows) crash into the earth around the time when the roman's had withdrawn all there troops to Italy. The power released by [insert catastrophe here] had caused daemons or other evil beings to appear (+ you no, mutants, zombies etc). The human race was suffering and had to form a pact. Rome itself became the center of human activities, keeping council with other races in this dark time. Eventually some climatic battle {fluff later} happened, men versus hellspawn. Though things weren't going well, a sudden horn blow appeared from a forest behind the daemonic lines, lithe creatures appearing, dressed in primitive furs and the tress themselves, firing crude arrows and wielding stone clubs. They were corrupted humans, tainted by the 'magic' released at [insert catastrophe]. They would later be known as elves.
As the battle ended, the daemons routed and chased, a rumbling sounded as the great [insert catastrophe] began again, volcanoes erupting and earthquakes shaking the world as the plates reformed and land changed. Italy and Greece flooded, only the large mountains and fortified cities survived, becoming port/fortress isles. These included Syracuse, Rome and Athens. Though the daemons were defeated, large tribes still roamed the land. Unknown to the senate of man, the Romano-British had a similar fate, the country crumbling and splitting into many isles. The Picts remained unchanged however, now a stronger nation in Scotland.
Years passed as men once again squabbled and the daemons struck from their dark holds. The Saxons invaded the British isles, followed by the Vikings, fueled by the forges of the re-emerging race of dwarves. The Romano-British tried hard, repulsed to the western isles. The Picts survived, raiding into the lower isles.
Peace settled between men, rebellions appearing and being crushed as the Romans once again tried to unify men. Their warfare was still powerful, even when faced with newer enemies with better weapons and tactics.
The Normans attack the British Isles in 1066, a joint invasion with the Romans to crush the many daemons lurking around the isles. They had a great victory over the saxon settlers of Londinium. Romans soon became sort after generals, their knowledge great, teh only ones of great records of the Mighty battle for mankind, though that is much disputed by the upstart Greeks of Athens.
And thats that. Basically people could be general people, warriors whatever, helping crush daemons, drinking in pubs, having a laugh.
Races would include: Humans (of all nations), Dwarfs of Norway, elves from the woods of Europe, daemons of the darkness around and half breed scum, twisted individuals half daemon, half human. They often spread their corruption into higher ranking areas of humanity, letting daemons into settlements etc.
I mean, this would work, as long as you lot could survive without guns and modern technology.
I also plan on using this idea for short stories atm
Peace out
